    Senior Urban Designer - Full Time (Montreal)

    What would it be like to be a Senior Urban Designer at GH+A? 

    As a Senior Urban Designer at GH+A, you would have the best of both worlds. You would get to tap into your creative juices to contribute to the design direction of projects as well as hone your leadership skills within a dynamic team structure.  It never gets boring at our office with the support of an extraordinary team, managing multiple projects at any given time and making sure they respect GH+A's quality standards, budgets and timelines. You would be under the supervision of a Project Director with whom you would work closely to ensure everything runs smoothly and to encourage positive team energy.

    Here are some of them!

    • Review project information: marketing studies, demographic data, architectural drawings, historical data, etc.
    • Analysis of site constraints and opportunities (including physical site or building conditions)
    • Review pedestrian and vehicular access and circulation, parking ratios, or vertical circulation within a complex building
    • Provide high level comments on existing conditions, or master plan provided by architect, as it pertains to the retail components
    • Make recommendations to improve the retail exposure, traffic, customer retention, maximize leasable square footage, etc
    • Research and document reference project
    • Envisioning the retail environment and place making (plans and renderings)
    • Explore conceptual merchandising layouts / category mix / leasing plans
    • Coordinate with leasing team or brokers
    • Storefront conceptual design

    Typical project types:

    • Repositioning of existing retail developments
    • Envisioning new retail developments or mixed-use developments (retail within residential and office)
    • Creating Food Hall / Markets (From feasibility studies to design development)

    What are our ''must -haves'' for this position?

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields (Architecture / Environmental Design / Landscape Architecture / Urban Planning)
    • 10 years relevant experience in retail design or architecture or any related creative field


    •  Ability to perform multiple tasks by effectively managing multiple projects
    • Problem-solving abilities
    • Comprehensive understanding of the retail industry
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Ability to conceptualize ideas through sketches and illustrations
    • Computer skills in CAD, Photoshop, InDesign, Sketch-Up, Office Suite
    • Ability to read architectural documents
    • Bilingual - written and spoken
